Anyone know anything about Siberian huskies??
Discussion
Just picked up a 4 month old Siberian husky from a rescue centre. She is 4 months old.She was dumped in a field so was basically abandonded.Being so young i really started to wonder why?Do breeders look for certain traits/physical features in this breed? In particular i thought about the eyes. This one has really unusual eyes, the left one is half light blue and the top half is brown, the other one is the exact opposite way up??Would this be a reason for a breeder to reject it?Took this pic in my living room last night.

Well it's a photograph, but shouldn't this be in the Pets forum?

I can't see (hope) any breeder would just dump her
Perhaps previous owner found her to be a little to boisterous
Regardless great find, get her checked out at the vets, hope all is great
That's what I was thinking, with a US website saying never let them off the lead as they'll just run, and many people have lost pets that way.Perhaps previous owner found her to be a little to boisterous

I have huskies if you want to talk pm me your number.
But the basics are don't let of the lead whatever anyone tells you,
Walk them all the time mine do an average of 10 miles a day and would happily do twice that.
I worn out husky is a good husky.
Be firm with them they are a headstrong breed and need to know who top dog is, or they will take that roll for themselves.
But they are great with kids and other dogs.
And the eyes are known as parti-eyes I doubt a breeder rejected over this.

Aye, normal in a husky breed. Our husky is bi-eyed, gets alot of comments of one blue, one brown. Perfectly normal though.
Yeah pretty as has been said above, headstrong, think like a child. Can be grumpy with you and have mardy moments but love to kiss and make up with you. Tip for Alpha, the alpha needs to be the person most at home! I go away alot so the missus is alpha.

Go to the Culpeppers website for leads and slip collars/X-backs, The best you can get, our leads and collars are about 7yrs old and still in A1 condition!
A bored husky is also a naughty husky, intelligent chewing machines! Sofa, cushions, their soft beds, opening fridges, etc!
If the dreamcatchers husky forum/website is still going, go on that and read up. Idiots guide to huskies, is actually a decent read believe it or not!

Our Sib has one full blue and one 3/4 blue rest green.
Cracking dogs very loveable, playful but ferk me are they strong willed, ignorant, oh and very very sneaky when they want to be.
Would not be with out ours now though.
Take a tip from me, never ever let them of the lead because even though he comes back 1000 times when called he will please himself one day and just run and run.

As most have said, they can be very destructive if bored, also they have rubbish recall, so no off lead unless in enclosed, we have a Sibe that turns up regularly as the (so called) professional dog walkers keep letting it off the lead. Our Malamute is very similar in temperament to a Sibe, but twice the size
they can be very trying especially when they hit the awkward teen stage (12-18 months). But with time and perseverance you'll have a very loving dog that is a true joy.

You mean the nutty 0-6months stage, then onto the even nuttier 6-12months stage aswell. Then you've the terrible 2's to contend with.
It's like having a toddler to look after!
Our's is coming upto 7 now. She's quite mellow really and chilled, very lazy.
