Has anyone had experience of this NSAID product to ease arthritic discomfort?

The vet has given it to us as a replacement for Meloxivet which looks to be upsetting our Meg's tum.

A brief google reveals some real side-effect horror stories.

I know this is the case with all drugs but hoped to hear some first hand thoughts before we give it a go.

Thanks,

It's a very good modern NSAIDs a lot safer than some old school ones. As with all NSAIDs there can be side effects. We don't use it as much as some but those that are on it have never had a problem.

Onsior is one we are using more and more.

A heat pad for their bed will also help ease discomfort.

I've just had a look at some of the stories. Some are hard to read but many suggest underlying illnesses poss misdiagnosed (ie the dog which ended up with a ruptured spleen px Previcox)

Meant to ask have checks been carried out on the liver and kidneys?

Just make sure any advice you get is greyhound specific, as I'm sure you know they can react differently than other breeds. Vets don't always take this into account.

Thanks but, unfortunately, she gets too hot very quickly and she'd get up and go somewhere cool quick enough.

Good point.

They did a blood test but thinking about it, I think it might have been just to check the pancreas is working ok. I'll ask next we're in.

We used it for our Newfie but only sparingly i.e. on the days where we felt she was bad. We were concerned about her liver.

We mainly used glucosamine.
