Just got a new dog (pics)

I went to a local dog pound this morning and said show me the worst dog you have, the one that has no chance of being rehomed anywhere, and i will take him.
So I've ended up with a dog with scars all over his nose, one eye missing and a mouth on him that looks like the lovechild of a crack w
e and that dude from the pogues.

He's been absolutely brilliant so far - so friendly around other people and my other dog. I just need to choose a name for him now

Well its been an eventful few days!
Last night I took him out for a walk at 10pm... he pulled on his lead so much that his collar snapped and he legged it. I couldn't catch him and he has zero interest in coming back to me when shouted on. He's great when people approach him on a lead... but when he had the ability to run off its another story altogether! He'd rather disappear than say hello.
I spent half the night out looking for him. To cut a long story short he was handed in to a vets at lunch time and I went there to get him again. Since he was there anyway I told them to have a go at sorting his teeth, at least clean them up and see if he needs any work. So they had to sedate him for that, and said come back for him later. I also told them to put a proper harness on him, and a strong lead and I'd pay for those when I came back. Schoolboy error not to have done that beforehand, but I suppose easy to say with hindsight.
This evening I brought him home again, and left him at home after a while and thought it'd be best to let him sleep. He had the run of 3 rooms in my house... yet he decided to be sick in his bed (acceptable if it just happened while he was sleeping), pissed on my laptop bag (cheers pal) then done a turd in his water bowl (now I'm just thinking you hate me). Why the hell would any animal coil one out in their only drinking source
I appreciate this isn't going to be a quick process but its already testing my patience and I'm starting to understand why people don't want the bulls
t and the vets bills! I definitely won't be giving in though, it just might be a little more complicated than I originally anticipated
Though tbh I should have known better... I work as a volunteer at the dog home he came from...
He seems chilled out again now:

And my other dog seems happy to have another dog to hang around with (we've had one minor fight over ownership of a golf ball, outside of that they've been 100%)
