So, I'm obviously not going to advertise here but was wondering if anybody has suggestions for advertising a Springer Pup for sale.
We had four pups but two didn't make it as one of them got stuck and the other would not eat.
We are keeping the bh but need to sell the Dog (who looks like he will be a good strong dog)

We ideally want him to go to somebody who will work him as he has a great blood line and has been docked etc ready - it's not essential however

We are advertising on the Kennel Club website but have only had one call of interest so far.

Any suggestions for good honest places to advertise?
I'm glad we don't have loads to sell...

Try pigeonwatch although you will probably need to have made a few posts to be able to post in the for sale section, or put an advert in countrymans weekly or any of the shooting magazines,

Try gundogtrainingforum.co.uk they have a section for dogs for sale though you have to register to post in that section and to even look in it.

Talk about the blood line in the advert (If there is any FTCH mention them) and what the mother is like hunting, retrieve and training wise.

Most people on that forum either work or trial their dogs so it will be going to a good home.

Thanks, I will take a look.
I thought we would be able to sell him no problem.
I told my wife that I will have to get a Range Rover if we end up with three dogs...

Cheers.
Mother is a pet but came from a working background.
Dad is a working dog from a good breed - I will get that in the advert.

The mother of mine was bred with a working background dog but made a lovely pet and very good with children.I mated her with a working springer and kept one of her pups which has been a superb pet - quite laid back now she is over 13yrs.

We are keeping one but selling the other. Ours will just be a pet but we will try our best to train her like her mum.

I'm getting concerned now as we have had no interest in the boy, I wasn't sure about having two dogs and now we may have three.
We have been told not to sell the dog(s) cheap but I'm starting to think I would give him away to a good owner.

Hang on a bit longer. Right home is key though. I have a non-working lab - though he'd love to work and is certainly not gun shy. I've been offered a couple of puppies who are 4 months old ish recently from people who haven't been able to find a home and bred them. I nearly caved at a golden retriever but my house isn't big enough for two big dogs given they live in the kitchen.
I'll ask around my shooting friends locally to see if anyone is looking for another dog.

How old is he? Any pictures?

I had 6 pups and struggled initially but I think the last one went at 3mths.

He is 7 weeks now and we would not let him go before 8 weeks. Apparently about 10 weeks is the norm.
I will post a picture in a bit.

You could always keep him for a few months. Get him on the whistle, good sit, recall, basic retrieve, steady to a thrown dummy and sell him as part trained. Part trained can sometimes go for a about 1K and can be easier to sell than a pup. Your call I guess.

Thanks for the advice.
Yes, I will be training him as soon as I can and hope this will aid the sale. My wife will do the same with the bh we are keeping.
We took their mum to gun dog training for a bit too so will use the same guy this time too.

We did have a call last night about the boy but the guy wanted it for his 15 year old daughter who picked the type of dog by comparing pictures of breeds.

The wee man is going to a lovely family who are going to train him but probably not work him. I'm happy.
We have had six phone calls since however so I assume people were just waiting for Christmas to pass.

Thanks for all the advice and HNY
