Spotted a red squirrel last week while I was working in a customer's garden. It made my day as they are rarely seen in Central Scotland these days and I am a big fan of them.
I arrived at the same garden this morning and was met with the dead body of a red squirrel exactly below the tree where we have been building a timber shed. It is most likely the same one I saw last week, there was no sign of injury and it seemed well fed with lovely fur and tail.
It's going for a postmortem at the Dick Vet College tomorrow and hopefully we will find out why it sadly died.

Poor little sod.

We have loads of them down here on brownsea island. They can be a little inbred though.

Awww that's a shame!

I didn't even know there were any in Central Scotland. I've only ever seen them in Moray.

They are all over the Isle of Wight and pretty tame. You can feed them by hand.
Infact if you see a grey squirrel you have to report it!

Aww, he looks so peaceful

Although dead, it's lovly to see a picture of one up close.

The vibrant red with contrasting white bellies and fluffy tail make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside

The wife and I fed the reds last weekend. They will feed out of your hand if you are quiet enough.
