Looks like a Huntsman. Can inflict a bite, but if you are healthy (e.g do not have a weak immune system) you should be fine.
Good luck!
Scaremongering. He's your friend, keeping insects at bay. Admittedly you wouldn't want a nip off him in an ideal world, but he's ok. I'd move him with my hand for a dare rather than a bet, to give perspective.Good luck!

Cheers - bit disconcerting to have one that reacts when you get close!
They're quick. But nice. I've had a couple recently in the house and I choose to let them stay rather than evict them. They get the baddies and as above, they won't bite unless properly provoked. And even then, it's nothing more than a decent nip.Google [bot] said:

Not a nice thing to have wandering about the house though, plus he may snuggle up to you when you're sleeping, and being bitten wouldn't be a very nice way to get woken up.Sorry to say but I'd kill the thing, somehow, but without getting too close to it, so possibly by throwing something like a bowling ball at it.
I spent a lot of time in Africa, so have encountered large vermin like that first hand. Was basically "trapped" in a room once as there were TWO massive spiders on the door, and the best weapon I could find was a pillow, which wasn't going to cut it. Luckily someone came in, and I got them to bring me a can of Doom. Unless you have experienced the killing power of Doom you really don't know what insect spray is. Managed to battle my way out with the Doom, but it sends them running before they die somewhere, and I only ever found one.
In summary, kill the thing!!!

Hey, I'd rather have been Arnie being hunted by the Predator than faced down with those two in hand to hand, well, hand to sticky arm leg bits, combat!! I thought spiders were supposed to be more scared of us than we are of them, but that theory doesn't hold water, if I approached and tried to scare them off they reared!! and I was scared off.Gassing Station | All Creatures Great & Small | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
