Well after having the second of two dogs put to sleep last June, I was beginning to feel like it was time for a new mutt. Right on cue, the Police dog school put 'Aussie' up for adoption. He's a GSD/Australian Cattle Dog cross. He was found tied up abandoned under a bridge in London and started off being taken to Battersea. They were unable to rehome him due to his predilection for chasing traffic, so he was rehomed to a GSD rescue in Cumbria, which is where the Police dog school got him. He didn't make the grade, so was put up for adoption.

He's an ideal size for me, about 3/4 of the size of a usual GSD. I took him on a week's trial, more to check I was right for him! I went in today and formally adopted him.

Thanks for all your good wishes. Jussi has been as good as gold. He's like a little furry magnet and won't leave me alone from the moment I get home. He's currently asleep. On me. Had a great walk today, he is stick/ball obsessed and will happily fetch the whole time. I just need to get a sack of cheapo tennis balls to go with the ball chucker I've already got.

I think he's also part hippo...

Beware the cheapo tennis ball! Our boy destroys them in minutes - its almost like he's outraged. The dear ones seem to last for ever and bounce higher to.

What a fantastic looking dog! Congrats biggrin

In the first post you say his name while working was Aussie - presumably pronounced Ozzie? - but he's now Jussi, pronounced how? Has he coped OK with the name change?
