About 5 years ago, we rescued a couple of long haired ginger cats. They had been given as a wedding gift but the new bride and groom had other things on their minds, than looking after kittens. Anyway, we brought them home and they've been here ever since. They don't go out much, although I leave a window open, so are more house cats really. We also brush them regularly but there's still bloody cat hair everywhere! We considered laminating them but evidently this is 'cruel'?
Anyway, in a month or so, we are moving to Cornwall and are unable to take them with us. As a result we want to find them a good home to go to. We're not looking to sell them, although I'm told they're quite valuable as far as cats go, but how should I go about rehoming the little blighters?

Initially, we plan to move into a caravan we keep on a farm on the north coast, whilst we search for a cottage or bungalow to rent on a longterm basis. We are also inheriting a small dog. If I'm honest, 5 years of everything being covered in that bloody, ginger cat hair has also taken its toll, so I would need to shave, varnish make them wear overalls. I believe the first 2 are probably cruel and I simply cannot find a supplier for cat overalls. Are you sure you wouldn't like them to come live with you?
It's a throwaway world we live in, why does it still surprise me when this includes pets .
Really hope the cats find a home together with someone who understands that cats moult. Good luck to them, it's a tough world out there for unwanted cats, ask the gorgeous cat that was abandoned on our doorstep (at work)a couple weeks ago, who we are now trying to rehome. (Oh and most dogs moult everywhere aswell, unless you're taking on a poodle/ Bichon type)

Sorry if I gave that impression but we won't be throwing them away and nor have I simply tired of having them around. I've mentioned some of the reasons, but there are others I am not willing to share on a public forum. If we can't find a loving home we will look at alternative options. .Really hope the cats find a home together with someone who understands that cats moult. I also accept that dogs moult, but these cats are a whole different league and even plaits didn't help.
I did think of the CPL but I would like a bit more input with finding them a home.

I get I sounded harsh, I also get there are many reasons why pets need rehoming, often through no fault of the owner. I was more responding to the matter of fact reasoning, that is what I find hard to read and as a result I probably over reacted
Cats Protection are a good charity and will usually try and rehome paired cats together, sadly a lot of charities are struggling and are overwhelmed.
Have you asked your vets. Sometimes they will know of people who ars looking or will at least be happy to put a poster up for you.
I really do hope they can be found a new home and together as from the pic I assume they get on and I do apologise for my initial response but I don't like reading the matter of fact approach to what I feel should have a more emotional feel to it. Does that make sense?!

Or try www.furryfriendsrescue.co.uk and talk to Emma or Anna.
They are life rescue so if any animal is homed by them and then for any reason cannot be kept, they must be returned without question to the rescue. At least you would know that someone was always looking out for them.

quite frankly, why get a dog when you have had cats for 5 years.
unless you took them, hated and wanted to get rid of, i cannot understand a reason for getting a dog that hates them
