Bringing a cat into a dogs home
Discussion
Some advise please on behalf of a friend.
My friend has a two year old Border Collie who is slightly nuts but very affectionate. His girlfriend is likely to be moving in with him in the near future and she has a cat.
What is the best way to introduce them (dog and cat) so that they can live harmoniously together.

You can't guarantee harmonious living....depends on the individual animals.
Of the 7 cats we had (we also have 4 dogs...), 2 we got because friends had partners move in with dogs that hated cats....
And in answer to "ok, how do you ensure harmonious living with your own cats a dogs?"....we don't. We've been very lucky. And it's not all harmony...
For example, I swear blind our lurcher, when younger, would have still taken down a non-family cat in the garden if she had the chance. And also one of our cats has been with us 5+years and still avoids all the dogs at all costs.
