I'm usually up to speed on my bird spotting, but never come across this one, do you know what it is? Thanks, Mark

We're not going to go for our Big Year or anything, but so far in the last year we've seen a few birds unseen by either of us previously.

Puffins, lapwings, woodpeckers, treecreepers, heron, shearwaters, gannets, and a little brown thing hopping around on stones in a river that I can't remember the name of.

Not a twitcher by any means, but really enjoying the feeling of discovery when we see these things.

That rings a bell. We looked it up when we got home, but the rigours of a couple of pints have dulled the ornithological senses.

Funny little thing though, cross between a wader and something that doesn't really like to get its feet wet.

Will check to see if I got any reasonable pictures.
