Bichon Frise and seperation anxiety
Discussion
A mate has a Bichon Frise who is now just over a year old. All OK apart from the dog gets very restless when his master is not at home, doesn't travel well in a car as he wants to sit on his lap all the time (not ideal if he's driving!), and if his owner leaves him in the car with somebody else (to nip to the shops, for example) then the dog is very animated and noisy until his return.
I know BFs are companion dogs and like to be with their owners, but to me it seems more than a little extreme, and if he doesn't do something now I would imagine he's headed for big problems down the line.
Anybody have any advice?

My sisters bischon is the same. just cries and tries looking for her if she leaves it with me or my mum, has to be up front in car etc. her friends one is perfectly normal.
Not sure why this one is such a baby as its 4 years old now and came into the house while she still had her rottie which was normal. Its left alone often enough and is a perfectly sociable little thing. Doesnt make a mess of the house etc if left unattended.

Notorious for this, our 1st, now 9 years old, tunnelled through the wall to get to us when left downstairs at night & howled & barked the whole time she was left alone no matter what the length of time.
She quietened down when we got her a companion, research is the key, BF's need company, anymore than an hour alone is not good

Its a a crap move to leave any dog while you work full time, BF's dont like an hour alone while other breeds can tolerate it to a degree.
The boss here ..............

can be ok for hours on end, sometimes all day but come home and then nip to the shop for half an hour & the doors are off when you get back!!
I see it as a rebellion, she tolerates the all day thing then you get back and your back for good, leave again & she thinks its forever so lets teach the human a lesson, that way I dont get left to be bored.
Your friend needs to address the situation, its not quite cruelty but some might think it borders on it, get the BF a companion or move it on & get a cat, company is everything in their simple lives
