We have recently got a rottie puppy, he is only a few months old and have just got an insurance quote with the same company with which our choc lab is insured with and they have quoted double what we pay for the lab, is it cause he is a rottie and classed as a 'dangerous breed' or could there be some other reason and are there any good companies out there that are good for insuring rotties or any others that you guys can recommend. Any help will be appreciated. Cheers Craig

I got several quotes for my rottie and found them to be much higher than I expected averaging £70 pcm. It is mostly down to the breed having a number of problems medically, especially associated with being a big dog and so being prone to lameness issues. It is simply risk levels of the company having to pay out.

First answer looks spot on.

Rotties aren't dangerous unless they're mistreated, or you're somewhere you shouldn't be.
