Cold tail/limber tail...
Discussion
Logan spent all day yesterday swimming (Literally) no swimming over winter so it looks like he's worked muscles he's not been used to for a while.
His tail is down between his legs just went down last night and it's staying down. His tail is never usually down Google and asking of FB seems cold tail is common with 'working' dogs when swimming various causes seem to be over exertion , cold water.
Anybody had this. We will keep him out of the pool but that is like torture for the poor fella.

Tends to be called swimmers tail.
General appearance is half tail holds ok then lower half droops but can affect whole tail.
Takes several days to recover. I have to advise vet check as I cannot diagnose and no condition should be diagnosed over the Internet.
Does he seem bothered by it? Can he move it at all? If he seems uncomfortable then he may benefit from pain relief.
He will be able to swim again once it is better but obviously just build him up over next few weeks so it reduces the chance of it happening again...if it is Swimmers tail that is!

No doesn't seem bothered he was a bit restless last night but as we were walking back a huge firework went off right near us
I put it down to that. It. Fact that's when his tail went down. Was ok before that. Bang tail went down and never came back.
Water wasn't too cold but he was swimming for hours.
He's otherwise his normal self. He just wants to get back in the water or play.

Thanks guys.
warm here 24 plus in shade today. We even went in. We just let him do too much on the first day I suspect. He doesn't want to stop, after 20 or so laps he indicates he wants out then immediately you have to put him back in again. He doesn't tire of it stubborn little git. Will take him to vets tommorow anyway she if some metacam or something might help.

Happened with our Lab a couple of years ago. He was having too much fun so didn't want to get out of the water.
The next day he was holding his tail like he was going to poop, the base was up for a few inches and then the rest pointed down. He would squeal when he tried to wag (which was a lot) so it must have been sore.
IIRC it took a couple of weeks to fully recover.
