We have a new puppy. A male golden retriever. He is the new companion for our older goldie lad, Bollinger (Bolly).

We are struggling for a name.

We have looked at many and rejected most:

Dom Perignon
Tattinger
Krug
Croft

Fitz (my college)
Leander (my rowing club)
Cam

Morse (one of the cats is a Sherlock)
Chambers

Perseus (Percy)
Augustus (Gus)
Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife.

Wallace

Crunchie
Doggie McDogface

It has to be sensible to shout out. And not sound like Bolly to avoid confusion. So any ideas? We've had a Max, a Monty and a Purdy.

Imo, those names are all over the top and it won't have human attributes, it's a dog. Surely there must be a simpler doggy name. How about Dioge :-) or something that may indicate his character. Short names are obviously more sensible when it comes to recall and obedience I imagine.

Here's a start:

Spot.

Our retrievers were Sam and Murphy. We had a king Charles called black wizard of millcroft, but he just tended to be called ratty... He was convinced he was a retriever!

Next one might be being called Dog, to appease my sense of humour, but realistically it will be called what the wife wants...

I quite like tattinger on your list. Shortens nicely.
