We are getting new kitten in the next couple of weeks and want to name him something "different". He's a ginger maine coon if that helps.

Other than the standard names like Tigger, Ginger etc.... I cant think of a particularly cool name, I do like Lionel but the boss has said NO!

Here are some pics

And this is his dad (who looks rather mean!)

We got our Ginger tabby around Halloween - hence the name Pumpkin 🎃.

Nice to have a ginger pussy around the house ..... 😊

I'd like to suggest some names involving the word "coon" but the PC brigade will start kicking off biggrin

What about "Rusty"?

We have a ginger half Maine Coon. My daughter called him Eliot. Not after the kid in E.T., but after Pete's Dragon.

Marmalade?

Unusual, gifts the colour and socially acceptable to yell out the back door at midnight whilst rattling a food tin and spoon.

We had a large ginger cat when ah wor a lad, a stray that arrived and never left. He really was a big fellow, like the dad in your pictures

We called him (The) General

As for your little friend, how about Arizona? He's ginger/orange and so is the desert, sort of! He's an American breed too, so named after an American state in name as well as breed.

The capital of Maine is Augusta, so how about Augustus ('cause he's a boy)?

Cheers so far guys.... All names have been suggested, I loved Eliot as in petes dragon (I love that film) but no joy

I would love to call him Pete for no reason other than to be at the back door shouting for Pete and its a rather cool name for a cat.

I wanted to go for Chewie but she has said no to that too frown

What you do is when you next go and visit the cat at the breeder/friend/aquantance or whatever, you say to the breeder "oh I'd love to call him (insert stupid but good and original name here)" and do a little laugh "but (wife), hates it".

The breeder will hopefully say "oh wow, that's a great name" he/she should then start referring to the kitten as your chosen name, the next time you visit, the breeder will say "oh (chosen name), is getting on great, I'll go and get (chosen name), back in a sec"

Hopefully by then the name will have stuck, that's what I did with my middle dog, the wife hated the name, the breeder loved it, every update and mention of the dog by the breeder was using my chosen name and it stuck.

As for you wanting to call him Pete and calling that name at the back door, I still think it is hilarious to hear the wife calling "Barry", from the back door or when we are out on a walk.
