Tibetan Mastiff

Apparently they are quite independent and cat like. In other words they do what the heck they like. 
On a cat that is ok, on a dog that size, you need to be totally up for the challenge. I utterly love the idea of one, bit the actuality will be something else.

To be fair my caucasain ovachakras are very similar in temperament etc plus they are bigger, so half the battle over. I am after a dog what fits what i need and this is top of my list. I looked at these for a long time and fell for them completely.
They don’t eat as much as their size suggests.
Lovely temprament.
Very protective but in an intelligent way. I found a breeder, went to see the dogs and they were great. They didn’t have a doggy smell, was very sure of itself and when the owner was showing one of her dogs in the ring the one I had hold of (inka) was constantly looking past me to have her in sight.
She mentioned how on the way home one day the streetlights were out, her dog refused to move and took her a different way. Sadly she passed away last year.
Another benefit of the Tibetan is the relatively long life for a large breed dog.
Sadly, we went to see them on a warm day and the amount of drool produced really out my wife off. It’s one thing which turns her stomach and we hadn’t seen it mentioned before. We got a lovely Rottweiler called Flash instead.
Once we have more space a Tibetan is definitely on the cards though.

We met a Tibetan mastiff last year (actually twice, once in Devon and completely by chance the next weekend in Salisbury).
Lovely great big thing, very friendly and apparently loyal. Can imagine if it spots something an wants to go you are not stopping it.
The owners also had an old English sheepdog (which looked small in comparison) but needed a people carrier with rear seats removed to fit them both in.

I do like these too, aren't they the most expensive breed ever sold? I'm sure I read somewhere of a pup being sold for millions in China!
