My dog emerged from the woods with it
Mates reckon it's a dog, I was thinking fox

Looks quite big for a fox, I'd say its a dog.

I think badger too - I remember finding a similar one when I was at school, and taking it to show my science teacher.

I’ll go badger.
Elongated lower jaw would be right.

Strip the flesh off it, bleach it and mount it.

Nottingham / Leicester border, so similar smile

Badger have eye sockets at the sides, these are more middle.

Looks like a large fox then

I would say that was a Fox skull.

The original picture seems to lack the brow ridge visible in the fox skull, I'd be inclined towards badger.

@OP What can you say about size?

Definitely not a badger skull which are a lot stumpier looking, not long and sleek. Shorter lower jaw, smaller back teeth, big saggital crest for muscles etc.

Fox skulls are just as big as badgers, if not a bit longer in big dog foxes, but they're more slender and pointy and less heavy and rounded.
