My elderly MIL is complaining of a small enclosed composite deck in her new place is slippery, she's talking about putting salt down on icy mornings.

My 1st thought was grit but she has a small dog and no avoiding it so grits out, no way of avoiding the deck so apart from giving it a vigorous cleaning (deck not dog) any other suggestions?

How bad for the dog would a little table salt be?

Grit or salt.... two very different things!

Salt ot be avoided unless MIL wants to wash the dogs feet every time but grit should be OK.

By grit I was meaning the stuff you use on paths in winter, rock salt. (which I know is horrible sticky stuff and to be avoided)

You can use either to help your mils issue but not with the dogs only use grit.
