And someone handed it in to the vets would you thank the person who handed it in only this has happened to me twice recently handed them in to the vets both occasions dogs were microchipped and both were returned to owners as checked with vets heard nothing and as a dog owner if it happened to me I would be straight on the phone to thank them maybe its me

Found a dog, traced owner via vets.

Owner came round with some chocs and a big Thx.

One of my dogs escaped and went to the local village green. I had been out searching for about an hour around the fields and forest etc where I would have expected him to go to no avail, when I was heading back to get the car to go out again and I saw him being walked down the road by a chap and his other dog. I got my dog back home and realised I had no idea who he was, so onto facebook stalking and asking around the local village. Eventually found who he was and where he lived and dropped a bottle of wine outside his door. So yes, yes I would expect someone to say thanks !
