Bird feeding station.

It's been very popular this winter, pigeons, collared doves, tits, wag tails, chiffchaff, magpies, robins, and the odd squirrel.

Someone knicked the peanut feeder, I've found it up the garden, twice. Second time a good 30 meters away. I'm not blaming the tits.

Or, as a cheaper alternative a length of 5" down-pipe over the upright. You can see the puzzled look on Mr squirrel's face, as he bounces off

Between them and the Woodies, I'll have to instigate a ticket system soon like the doctors.

I don't mind them having a nosh, squirrels are people too. Running off with the feeder is beyond the pale.

You could try a squirrel feeder, as they will go for the easy option. Alternatively you can put chilli power on your nuts (pardon?). Squirrels can taste it, birds can't. You'll find information about this if you Google.

I bought some "squirrel proof" chilli coated suet pellets to ground feed - Squidgers bloody loved em!

They're probably the Mexican variety.....


Squirrel feeders do work though (from personal experience). Trouble is, with a regular supply of nuts they take to burying them, and wrecking your lawn in the process.

I've not caught anyone in the act yet, but they do nick it most days now. Whoever it is struggles getting it passed a fence, but does occasionally manage it, and disappears into the veg patch.
