I heard a blood curdling scream earlier so rushed I to the kitchen to find a moderately large spider in there along with my wife.

Any ideas what it is?

Thanks

Yeah looks like a wolf spider to me...Caught a beaut one of these in the lounge the other day... its legs were so long that they didn't fit under the pint glass (traditional shape)!

That's a Curdling Scream Wolf Spider, probably scared when it saw your wife.

Harmless spider looking for a mate this time of year. I believe the big ones may be male which is normally the other way around with spiders.

We have tons of false widows around our place...not been bitten.

Tegenaria domestica aka the house spider I'd say. Or possibly its larger cousin tegenaria gigantia.
