White tailed Eagles have been reintroduced to the isle of white and are doing well in Scotland, not sure if they have a taste for Sea gull though

Nature is cruel. But at least the Eagle got a meal.

We had a pigeon nailed by a sparrowhawk right outside our lounge window a few weeks ago... He stripped the breast clean..

She. Male sparrowhawks are too small to take a pigeon, apparently.

The pic above is a male. Not sure what's being nailed though.

As for the sea eagle catching that gull I'm quite surprised. I'd have expected a gull to out manouvre an eagle at low level but clearly not.

Nice, as a kid in the West Highlands I often saw Black Backs taking smaller birds and as kid I often saw my uncles tethering Black backs on the wheel houses of fishing boats to keep smaller Gulls at bay.

Why is it cruel? As you say it is nature and this is what these amazing creatures do.
Would it be cruel for that gull to take a fish out of the sea and eat it? Although it is very cruel when they will swoop off with you battered sausage!
I don’t want to sound confrontational, just genuinely interested in your opinion.

Was in Scarborough the weekend visiting my folks, the gulls are nesting EVRYWHERE.

Grand Hotel must have 100s of nests on it.
