What do you think this one was please.
Yorkshire/Lancashire moorland.
Ground bird
Size was somewhere from a blackbird to a pigeon.
Cream and maybe a couple of shades of brown stripes down the length of it's body, overall it was brown.

It was on the ground when I walked near so never saw it until it flew off.

Google hasn't thrown up much, only a European Golden Plover in it's Summer colours looks similar, but it's Winter....

If not, try the RSPB identifier.

No it wasn't a game bird, they're always noisy, erratic and don't fly so well. After it's initial shock it settled into a decent flight.
Will just have to hope I see it again, maybe leave some seed out with the camera and see what else is there. The problem is it's steaming up or frosting over at the moment. It would be good to picture birds which won't come near the house to feed.
The RSPB thing takes me to Golden Plover Summer plumage....

Snipe perhaps? Fast flight with some zig zags.
