Do they sit on it without the cover?

Make a good "guess the car" competition.

I have the same issue with one of my cars - just the one, which happens to be the one with the highest value. If I leave it uncovered, the foxes run riot all over it, muddy prints and streaks everywhere, and they have even crapped on the bonnet. Cover on, they don't bother. And they never go on any of the other cars. I don't love having it under a cover, but it won't fit in the garage (where there's something else anyway) so I don't have much option.

All you need do to keep reynard off is spread some scents on it, the best ones are chilli peppers (Capsaicin), white vinegar and garlic, unlikely
that any of those compounds once dried will affect the paintwork but if you are worried put a thin plastic sheet under the scented
area, rub it into the parts nearest the ground and a good amount at the part it likes to sit, chances are it won't even try jumping up there.

This was my solution to keeping foxes off my car. I bought rubber matting from Amazon and stitched bird spikes onto it. If it’s a daily driver then it’ll be a faff taking them off every day. If it’s an occasional use car then it works a treat. For those asking why it’s a problem on a cover: the cover gets covered in fox crap (literally) and pee, stinks to high heaven and all the fox-related crud ends up going on your car when you remove the cover.
