Wasp or Hornet Nesting?
Discussion
Started hearing some buzzing sounds early in the mornings & couldn't work out what it was. Spotted a wasp/hornet insect flying in & out of the open window thinking it was flying in to the roof space from the gap above the cupboard . . . until I paid attention to the stored kettle just below . . .
No footage of the critter unfortunately but do we think this is the start of a wasp or a hornet's nest?
I have since removed the nest.
Apologies for the pants video but was hard getting it to focus. It does focus a little better towards the end of the video. . .
Also my first ever YT video - I'm in this for the views

So . . . yesterday, once the nest creator/Queen(?) & the only other smaller worker / hatchling (?) were seen to have flown out the window . . .
The kettle with attached "nest" was removed. . . incidentally there were 6 or 7 dried husks in the kettle's spout! Were these previous hatchlings or eggs? - It should be obvious by now I have no idea how wasps / hornets do this thing . . .
The window to the room was usually left open 24/7, so the window was closed for a few hours with the nest owner often apparently batting up against the window trying to get in. . .
Later in the morning, the window was opened & the creator flew straight in & flew around the nest site & then flew out the window . . . then returned 30 seconds later confusedly flying around the whole room trying to locate family i assume.
Window was kept shut for remainder of the day, whilst nobody in & opened again late in the evening.
No sign of the critter since then.
Wish i had some better footage to show you but prioritised removal over my burgeoning YouTube career
