hi i made fish pond in garden in summer ,it now has about 2 inch of ice on .is it better for the fish to leave it on or try to remove it. thanks

Is it iced over completely? If it is then youll need to remove some or all of it but dont hit it as the shock may kill the fish! Once cleared throw in a tennis ball as that will stop it from icing over completely.

thanks anthony. i have been moving some ice every day,but didnt know if it was beter to leave some .i have a tennis ball i will dig my to pondand put it in .we have about 14-16 inch of snow. thanks again

A saucepan of boiling water placed on the ice (water still in the pan) will melt a hole and not shock the fish.

As said, don't break it by hit it or put too much pressure on it, just gently break out a hole and leave the rest on.
