Help me spec out my family trip.....

OK chaps, I thought I would throw this one out there for the PH collective to see what ideas, suggestions you might have.
I want to take my mother to Australia for Christmas to see our family just outside Sydney, however we could also go to Melbourne as we have family there also. I would expect to probably spend a month in OZ, perhaps up to 6 weeks.
At the same time my father wants to go trekking with my sister somewhere, Nepal ideally but might not rule out India or somewhere else.
The plan would be for us to either catch a flight to somewhere like India, but perhaps somewhere in SE Asia to spend a few days as a family all together before the two groups go on there separate ways.
Whilst in Oz I would like to do a 4x4 adventure of some kind, I have done Fraser Island before. Perhaps also a trip to do some fishing?
