Anyone stayed here? Looking to go to Vegas in July/August and wondering where to stay, Encore seems pretty highly rated? Can stay anywhere but it needs to be on the strip. I'm looking for somewhere with an excellent pool and close to some decent bars/clubs.

We stayed there a month or so ago, fantastic place, highly recommended!

The rooms are great, we booked a normal room and £20 dollar tipped at check in and ended up in a 50th floor panoramic room. If you are into your clubbing then you'll get access to XS and the other venues fairly easily if you stay at the hotel, so it's probably worth it if you plan to do that.

Have a meal in Tao (fantastic food) in the Venetian, and you get into the club free afterwards.

It's a fantastic resort, we're staying there for a couple of nights in June/July again along with the MGM Grand and Bellagio, seriously can't wait. If you're a golfer the course they have is magnificent too.

Stayed at a number of hotels in Vegas, but last few trips have all been to Encore/Wynn, which must say something. It really is the best in town IMHO, although at the end of the strip it's not the best located by any means. Will be going again this year for a short break smile

Both properties are linked and very similarly themed (butterlies or flowers). Some times I've booked there's better deals on the Wynn, other times the Encore. I have no real preference between the two in terms of accomodation and all the other facilities are shared. The rooms at the Encore are, I think, slightly more impressive; but then the strip views are better from the Wynn if you get a high floor. Last trip we had the 58th IIRC, which is the highest floor before the suites-only floors...although counting the actual floors there's 10 or so missing from the numbering.

Both properties have good food - I do like chilling out at the unbrellas up/down bar; monster Tanquery G&TS. Not really a pool person, but the Wynn pool is better than the Encore but you have access to both...although Ceasars probably have the best pool complex of all.

Penske Ferrari/Maserati showroom in the Wynn; you get free entry with a Maserati [and presumably Ferrari too] car club card smile They get very stroppy if you take photos though.

Only warning is re car hire. If you are renting something decent from Hertz [Corvette, Camaro or Mustang] then you can pick it up from a number of the Vegas hotels. Means you can roll off the flight under the influence, get a taxi to hotel and pick up car sober the next day. Renting the same car from Hertz with collection at the Wynn is way more expensive than all the other casinos or the airport. Best bet is rent/collect from Caesars; 5 minute walk.

Wynn and encore are both very good, but if you are looking for a non-themed hotel,I would consider the cosmopolitan or aria as they are in better position on the strip, and normally better value for money.

Got home from a 4 day stay at the Encore yesterday, can't fault it, lovely hotel BUT next time I'm going to give The Cosmopolitan a try.........had a walk through it and its just amazing. Better situated on the strip than The Encore as well.

Found the Encore a very nice place to be indeed, the newer twin of the excellent Wynn. We got a cheap deal with flights with Virgin via expedia, last summer and got a lovely big standard room. The main pool is very good, the "European Scene" pool seemed a good laugh as it meant it was full of young ladies enjoying the novelty of taking their tops off (was with Mrs P so couldn't enjoy it myself too much). The casino itself seemed a bit small and limited compared to other casinos, but did the job in making me part with my readies easily enough.

There's a very large Fashion Show shopping mall "just" over the road.

BUT - it seems to be a long way from the more central strip area - Bellagio/MGM areas/Caesar's Palace etc. If you like walking, even to the Venetian which is only next to the Wynn complex it seems to take a very long time. Plus in early July it was flippin hot!

One of my favourite finds was the tiny-in-comparison place Peppermill restaurant and Fireside Lounge which is a 10 minute walk north of the hotel. It was a great little diner cum late bar where we had breakfast in traditional American diner style and another night had some late cocktails in the lounge at the back.

All in all you could do a lot worse than the Encore, especially with some of the deals that seem to be common for this place.
