Hi All,

I'm planning a few days in Normandy with Mrs Mep next month.

I've had a look at the other Normandy threads and at the moment the plan looks something like this.

Day 1 - Morning ferry to Calais - Honfleur for Lunch/Afternoon - Overnight in Deauville.

Day 2 - From Deauville to Port-En-Bressin via Merville Battery, Pegasus Bridge & Arromanches. Overnight in Port-En-Bessin.

Day 3 - Explore West of Port-En-Bessin. Omaha Beach, Point du Hoc, Utah Beach, Sainte-Mere-Eglise. Overnight in Port-En-Bessin.

Day 4 - Morning in Port-En-Bessin. (I read they have a Sunday Morning Market) - Drive Back to Calais for a late afternoon ferry.

Does anyone has any advice/recommendations? Mainly whether the towns I'm planning to stay in are good choices and if so restaurants, bars, local attractions worth seeing etc.

I've seen Deauville recommended on here and read a bit about that so pretty happy with that. Port-En-Bressin I don't have a lot of information about but it looks a reasonable base and has an Ibis hotel that gets decent reviews and doesn't cost too much.

If Port-En-Bessin isn't a good choice then alternative suggestions would be appreciated!

I'm not looking to spend a fortune on hotels - under £100/night for a double room.

Thanks for any help.

Port en Bessin (not Bressin) is a nice place. However I can also very strongly recommend (do a google) Normandy Beach bed and breakfast in Arromanches - run by a chap called Adrian and his wife Karen. Lovely rooms. Good place. Beer fridge. Mega breakfasts.

Plenty to see near there too - the Mulberry harbours are still on the beach, huge gun battery nearby, panoramic cinema thing on the hill.

Don't forget a visit to Bayeux
