Touring England - Where to go???
Discussion
The missus and I are heading down to visit her father in Worthing next week, but before we get down to Worthing we fancy stopping off at a few places that are worth visiting on the way. We're planning a day/night in London while we're there so that's covered.
Our plan is to leave Falkirk, Scotland, and head to Newcastle for the first night and then we thought about Alton Towers for our next stop, but we've both agreed that it'll be a wasted day because she won't go on anything.... Much to my disappointment!
So where is worth visiting between Newcastle and Worthing? We're looking for fun things to do during the day and also at night. Does anyone know if there's any shows/comedians etc on next week (Thursday 26th)?
Cheers.

There's a village on the way called London which is quite interesting I recall...Cheers.
Never been before but while at that neck of the woods i would check out lake district, then down to leeds or possibly york, then possibly birmingham (no seriously, the centre is really quite nice in the right places) then a stop off in the cotsworlds before london
random but worth a pop

I'm from Newcastle originally. Ignore anything immediately south of there and head for the Yorkshire moors.
Whitby, York, Robin Hoods Bay are all brilliant little towns (Robin Hoods Bay is worth a google at least, tiny little lanes, no cars, good pubs, charming place when not totally full of tourists) Flamingo Land was fantastic the last time I was there (maybe aged 14!) The yorkshire moors themselves are lovely.
Further south, Harrogate is gorgeous but there's not much to do.
Following that, I would probably head down to Cambridge and have a trip on the water in a punt and have a nice tea.
