For the love of god, I can not find a decent website that will answer me this simple question: Who pays the most when buying-back dollars?

I've googled and googled, which has taken me to many links and websites - all of whom end up trying to sell me the damn things!

I'm aware the high street banks, marks & spencers and the post office will buy them back - but quite obviously, I want the best deal.

I'd sooner not spend my day visiting these places seeing what they're paying, so is there a way I can find out online?
Would an online company provide a better deal?

It's only $230, so am expecting £150+/-

TIA

I would be expecting around £110-120 as almost all the places that buy them back offer a commision free service but make their money by giving a buy back rate of 20-30cents over the daily tourist exchange rate.

Are you from Yorkshire, by any chance? hehe

Your best bet for a small amount like that is to find someone who is going, and do a private deal.

I am from Yorkshire - Gods very own county, but alas - flat caps and whippets are not seen round these here parts biggrin t'intintin and all that jazz.

Cheers Saleen - was expecting a lower rate but not by that much!

Guess a trip into town is needed then and do some mooching around. Oh the joy.

Unless someone on here needs $230?
$220 in crispy unused $20 notes and one used $10 note?
I may even chuck in a sachet of Kool-Aid I bought back from Wal-Mart biggrin Oh Yeah!! biggrin

Your hope for £150+ is extremely optimistic. According to XE.com the current market value of $230 is £141.70, dealers rates will not be better than that.

You need to work on those googling skills, the first result for "sell travel currency" found this.

Maybe work on reading skills?
Post Office already mentioned - as stated, I'm looking for something similar to a comparison site which shows the best offers.
I'm fully aware of the Post Office and how they appear to offer the lowest rates for BuyBack.

And yes, it's $20 bill - we have notes, they have bills. Thanks for that! Very helpful.

The M&S tourist rate is $1.57 - so to buy $230 would cost £146.50.

That's their pound to dollar rate, their dollar to pound rate will not be exact reverse of that.

Sorry, it wasn't mean as an insult. The Post Office are probably the best bet anyway. Personally, I'd hang onto them as a friend or someone is bound to need them at some point. You can cut out the middle man and do a better deal then.

Of course it won't - I was agreeing with your point, the OP is being a tad ambitious looking for £150 for currency that would only cost £146 to buy!
