Airport Lounge - No1 Gatwick North

By virtue of who we booked our holiday through, we (me, wife, daughter and gran kids) have 'free' access to an airport lounge on our outbound flight. Called apparently No.1 Gatwick North.
On the small print it says smart casual dress - anyone any experience of this particular airport lounge and whether this is strictly adhered to? Or maybe its just literally a 'get out' clause for someone who might be less desirable?
I am thinking of wearing shorts, do you think we will get in?
