I went out on the beer with work the other week. Decided to stay in a Travelodge. It is on a busy roundabout, but having stayed before, I knew the noise wasn't an issue. Checked in and went straight out on the lash. Got in around midnight to discover that our room was the last one in the corridor, with a huge industrial generator running 24/7 outside. The noise of the generator made it impossible to sleep whatsoever. A brief discussion with the porter informed me that the hotel car approx 60% full, and that they knew about the generator, but yet allocated rooms nearest the generator when just over half full.

I duly emailed Travelodge, who replied and re-credited by Travelodge account, which is fine. However, they clearly didn't bother to read my complaint, as their response referes to noisy guests as the problem, and they even spelt my name wrong on their reply. I responded straight away, but haven't had a response in 10 days. I am not seeking compensation, just seriously hacked off they couldn't even read my complaint or spell my name correctly. Anyone have a head office email address for someone with some weight behind their position?

I think you've done well so far - no-one reads complaints any more and they never go up the foodchain - the clerks assess the level of anger and credit accordingly and regard it as resolved as far as their targets are concerned

In terms of customer service, I think you're a century behind. You've complained and got it off your chest and had your money but they really won't care so vote with your feet and don't use them again. I mean what is it these days, £27 a night? It's not The Ritz.
