Solomons- Anyon visited? Pidgin bearable?

I've got my medical elective in the Solomons coming up. I'd like to know what people's experiences of the county as a whole was. Bricking trying to communicate to people in the hospital. If piano roughly translates to "big black box with many teeth that cries when you hit it" I'd hate to think of how to say some of our longer winded medical terms!

I lived there as a kid. Pidgin is pretty simple as you'd expect, plenty on the web to help pick up some crucial stuff, but for now remember 'everything' is 'olketa' and 'broken' is 'buggerup'. Oh and 'man widdim hat widdim feather blong arse blong ostrich' is the high commissioner.
