Going to cardif soon, never been and can't find much on Google as to what to do, possibly not a good sign.
So open it up to suggestions, will probably go to the castle assuming its worth it. Would like the meal to come in at less than £60 with wine, other than that I'm open to suggestions.

I tend to bypass the centre and head down the bay these days, never had a bad meal at the brasserie but theres lots to choose from depending on what you like.

In the centre, the microbrewery on westgate street does an excellent pint and is close to the castle.

Cardiff Castle is very expensive too. If you like castles, you have a choice of Caerphilly (park round the back of it for nothing) or Castell Coch, both about 10 miles north of Cardiff.
For shopping, St Davids 2 is a mega shopping centre these days.
The Bay is OK but over-rated if you ask me. On a nice day, best to head to Penarth Marina and park and walk across the barrage to the Bay. Cheaper parking too.
Over that way is Cosmeston Mediaeval Village - nearer Barry though.

+2 Head to The Bay area, lots of places to eat (a few chains) and a few bars.

If you're a fan of Doctor Who, there is the exhibition in the Red Dragon centre, but I found it not worth it and a waste of an hour.
Castle is very expensive.

OP, what are you headed to Cardiff for?

Rumour has it that the lava lounge in the brewery quarter is doing a "take that" bbq party all day Tuesday and Wednesday, not sure if its your scene but maybe worth a look. There's a few nice bars on mill lane close to the stadium too

Ignore the 'Leisure Centre' Direction signs in Cardiff, I followed them and all I found was a Sheep tied to a lampost

valentino's is a good Italian. Excellent Brusceta (sp?). Most of the restaurants down there are good. You can always have a good night down the bay.

Is it just take coins or prepay, checked on their site which tells you the price but not how to pay it!

Chuck coins in the bin - they don't take cards. Chuck coins in individually as we got shafted for an extra quid by slinging it all in at once.

Lincoln House is a good place to stay. I know the owners and they are perfectionists.

A great place to get food down the bay is Mimosa. Not expensive but very nice. My mate reckons the gnocchi is the best he's ever had.

A 2 minute walk from your hotel is a pub called The Cricketers who do a very good sandwich.

If you are into Indian food and want something special, then Mint & Mustard on Whitchurch Road won't disappoint.

Got back last night and had a really good time thanks for all of the suggestions. Ate at signor valentino and fresh would recommend both, the hotel was very clean with exceptional customer service. Went to both cardiff castle and caste coch, out of the two I preferred castle coch but both worth seeing.
Then went to the international bird of prey centre in gloucester on the way back which I would also.gladly recommend.

Again thanks for all of the suggestions, they kept my wife busy and out of the shops!
