3 nights in Nice/Cannes
Discussion
Hi,
After a much needed break and get some sun!
Can only realistically get 3 nights off and it needs to be cheap!
We went a few yrs ago and really enjoyed ourselves (hired an apartment). Just wondering if anyone had any recommendations on where to stay (think cheap!).
Also how does one get from Nice airport to Nice?
Thanks in adavance and sorry for any spelling issues (im on my phone!)

If you want cheaper, then consider going inland. We stayed here: http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g187247-... for 3 nights and there was nothing wrong with it at all (secure-ish parking too).
Great restaurant here: http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g18... (yes, reviews are in French, read in to that what you may!).
Nice Airport website: http://en.nice.aeroport.fr/

Depends on what you consider cheap?
We usually use one of the 2 Mercure hotels that are on the seafront,as they're both close to the centre & next to underground car parks. Nothing spectacular about either of them but they serve a purpose. Have also stayed at the Meridien - nice roof top bar but not worth the extra IMO.
The airport is only a few miles away along the seafront. You could take a bus/taxi or hire a "velo blu" bike & use the cycle path along the seafront (hire points all over the place to pick up & drop off at) if you're feeling energetic!
Bearing in mind that just outside Nice are some of the best driving roads in Europe, you'll be hiring a car - Non? Sixt have BMW 1 & 3 series as you will obviously be wanting RWD, they even have Sciroccos if the Beemers are all taken.... Avis have Mini Coopers but they extract the urine on price for them & you can't take them out of France.

Boscolo Hotel group have a couple of places in Nice. We enjoyed a week in one of them (Exedra)recently. Very pleasant without being excessive.
There are a zillion good places to eat. Personal favourites are Luc Salsedo, L'Ane Rouge, and a bonkers place that serves a 5-courser made from pumpkins! Can't remember its name (starts with a Z) but it's down at the port..
Nice airport to Nice = taxi. It's no big distance and it's not too expensive.

I stayed here:

Yes it is a hostel, but it is outstanding.
Cheap, amazing food, nice clean rooms, amazing bar/social area. Free bus that runs you to the tram stop. Free parking
