The OH and I are going to Barcelona for a acouple of week days and a weekend - any suggestions on things to see / do?

The OH does like the sun whereas I get bored very quickly

Thanks

Barcelona is a favourite city of mine, i've been there 4 times now.

Even if you're not into football, at trip to the Camp Nou is a must. Las Ramblas is the main drag, and there are plenty of places to eat/shop, women tend to like El Corte Ingles, however, IIRC, on the top floor they were selling boats! On the main square on Las Ramblas, there's a Hard Rock Cafe (if you're so inclined) there's also a narrow(er) street off the square which has a little familiy restaurant, where you can sit on the second floor on a small balcony watching the world go by, lovely, but can't remember what it's called, but you should spot it, it's literally just off the square on a smaller road.

You've also got the aquarium (nice) but most cities have one, theirs is on the harbour, which itself if a nice place to wander around. There are also some lovely Cathedral type places, Gaudi included of course, which i'm not into, but couldn't help but be impressed by.

Lots of arts places too, and Guel Park (spelling?) is fantastic, they have water fountains, and whilst we were there, there was a firework display too.

Just a great vibe about the place.

I work in Barcelona quite a lot, depending what you enjoy doing;

Gaudi .. google him see if it's your thing, but quite high on my list.

Picasso museum is great, in the Gothic Quarter.

Check out how to use the metro, cheap way of getting around.

Las Ramblas, at night needs a bit of sensible safety precautions because of the pickpockets. I consider myself to be fairly streetwise, and travel a lot .. but managed to have my wallet lifted. Last time I was there a colleague had his iphone pulled out of his hand and stolen whilst he was writing a text !

Beware of the red light district, even during the day as well as the pickpockets on the metro especially

I live in Barcelona and have answered this a few times. Check back a couple of weeks in this forum and you'll find more info.

Happy to answer specifics if needed

Not cheap but Edgar and the tour was top drawer, enjoy if you do it. Very relaxed, we even cocked about racing them down the seafront hehe
