Is it better to change your money here or there?

When I went to Barbados last year I changed all my money before I went but having looked at the rate when I was there I wish I hadn't.

Can't help specifically but I usually go with Travelex in advance, and pick up the cash at the airport. Beats the post office/high st bank rate anyway.

Fair enough. Worked out a couple of quid better for Euros the other week - free pint at the airport

Best rate for USD I found was Travel FX. I got 1.63 with them just before the banks announced interest rates weren't budging. They are still better than anywhere else I can find.

Buy everything this side is my advice. Travelex in the past has been best for me if I'm buying a fair few $ (which for Vegas last month I was !!)

You can change sterling at any of the cashiers in the casinos though which offered my friends an okay rate, but it was still further from the spot price on the market than the usual Post Office / Travelex offerings. Stay well away from the exchange points in the airports on arrival to the US though...single biggest rip off rate I'd ever seen - when my mate asked the guy why it was so bad (less than $1.50 to the £ 5 weeks ago!) his reply was "We just don't want your money!!"..customer service with a smile!
