What’s going on with the airlines and their baggage allowances? A friend of mine just returned from Lanzarote with Ryan Air and her allowance was just 15 kilos per case, but hand luggage was 10 Kilos. I have recently booked fights to Turkey with Thomas Cook and their allowance is 20 kilos per case but only 5 kilos for hand luggage.

Are the airlines deliberately making it more complex at check in or does it depend on other factors such as plane size etc?

IMHO the baggage allowance should be for the passenger and luggage combined, that way a huge lardarse with a 19.5kg suitcase will pay more than a beanpole with a 20.5kg suitcase and not the other way round. Plus it should work out fairer for families with children who pay full fare.

We're always going to the winter/summer home so most of the things we need are already there.

Turn left ? No - that's where the pilot goes.

I just head for my armchair and wait for Miss Galore to serve the cocktails.

Those of us that earned gold the hard way, on cheapest possible tickets, turn right and get 30Kg frown

Thomas Cook are stingy on cabin luggage but BMIBaby have increased their baggage allowance to 22kg and I think it's still 10kg cabin.

To be fair, most people bring this regulation on themselves by taking the f*****g piss with their cabin baggage the size and weight of an anvil.

We have to have a reasonable cabin allowance as kids need more stuff on aircraft if you want to keep them quiet and odour-free. 10 kg is fine but 5 kg is a bit pathetic.
