Hi,

I am off on a roadtrip on Saturday and was considering extending my existing RAC cover to EU as well. This is somewhat complicated by the fact that the car will stay in EU for some months while I go back and forth, so effectively I probably need a year cover. Most quotes are £150 and above for a full year, just for EU part and some seem not to cover countries such as Czech Republic which I am in for 4 days.

Any suggestions on competitive quotes?

Also, anyone broken down abroad with no cover? Ideas of the cost of being recovered? I assume around €200?

Have used these guys several times before, the policy was with AXA

The last time I used them the car I was travelling in dumped all it's oil near the German border at 2am and they recovered us back to a local town, found us a hotel that was open, helped us collect a rental car the next morning and then recovered the car back to the UK on a transporter about a week later

Wow, just had a one year quote online showing GBP 68 for a whole year, thats for UK and European break down cover.

Just the RAC renewal for UK cover alone was GBP 103.

Thanks, will certaibly follow it up!

Is that for any car or for one? Only it wants me to enter my reg details to get a quote, I would like cover for any car I happen to be driving.
They can't cover my VW Caddy van!

Yes, it does seem like its for onle one car. This is ok for me in terms of Euro cover but not ideal in terms of UK cover as I have 3 cars in the UK. Will give them a call to clarify and post back.

I noticed that with Britannia Rescue it allows one to add 'personal cover' (ie: drive any car) for 28 more.

Alas, they only do one car per policy, so only works out useful if you have one car.

I purchased a 7 day Euroo cover policy anyway, was considerably less than the RAC (24 vs 65).
