Los Cristianos - Tenerife.
Discussion
The Girlfriend and I are heading off to Los Cristianos (booked it just a few days before the beheading
) on the 25th. We've never been before so I'm looking for any recommendations for things to do around the area!
Anything goes really, from night life in Playa De Las Americas to the more relaxed areas around Los Cristianos.
Cheers!

Have a walk down to the other end of Americas and try a restaurant on the seafront called La Terraza Del Mare. Order the steak kebab
Then on your way back to Cristianos, visit Babilonia Bar for a look at their Norwegian barmaid, Dina. You will thank me for this when you see her.
For somewhere to eat in Los Cristianos (or at least the top end of Americas) give Sugar And Spice a go. We didn't eat there but my mate has been on a previous holiday and said it was fantastic. Apparently it's a good idea to pop in the might before and book a table.
Avoid a club called Tibu, no matter how much the flyer-passers try to talk you into it. It's supposed to be fantastic, but we found it's not only a rip-off, but it's very "local" and the natives make you feel like you're somewhere you shouldn't be.
Hope this helps; have a good one!

We went on a Land Rover Safari which was exciting - they drive madly (not dangerously, it just seems quick whilst bouncing around in the back of an open Defender). This took us to the top of Mount Tiede with a guide etc and was a great day out.

Yes, I went on one of those on a previous visit to Tenerife and realised I could do it myself (albeit with more cautious driving Regards,

). Stopped off at a cafe and then a nice restaurant somewhere. Was pleasantly enjoyable.RemainAllHoof said:
Yes, definitely get on a cruise of some sort. Unless you get seasick.
Haha, this is my resounding memory of my last trip to Tenerife, the missus suggested we went on one of the whale/dolphin watch trips on what seemed like afairly calm day, or so we thought
Once we got a mile or so out from Los Cristianos there was quite a swell and when the boat moored up just about everyone including a couple of the crew started giving it the old heave ho
I think there was only about 4 or us out of 45 people or so that didn't chuck up and the whole boat stank when we got back
Hire a car a go up Teide, the tropical north side of the island is well worth an explore.
Do the whale and dolphin thing on a calm day, sun block to the max though because the sun is lethal (masked by the strong sea breeze).
It's also worth a trip to Gomera on the Fred Olson ferry (the cool, fast trimaran), it's like going back 50 years in time and you can see the crappy stone house where Columbus hung out for a while. The national park is quite nice too.

I forget the name of the hotel, but midway between Cristianos and Americas.
A few things that immediately spring to mind
1) Rubbish everywhere - just all over the streets. Ive spoken to other people who have been who said it was impeccably clean when they went, so maybe I caught them on a bad week..?
2) Unable to walk down the street (even during the day - I accept it is to be expected to an extent at night) without being stopped by ...
From the airport:
"How much to XXXX?"
"€20".
Arrive at Hotel:
"€50"
"You said it would be €20"
"I had to go a different way"
"You chose to go a longer way... here's €20"
blah blah
"€50 or I call the police"
"€20 or f
k all"
"Alright alright, f
king English"
Lovely.
There are many more things, which I won't list/bore you with. While I appreciate the above might seem not that bad or to be expected, I certainly would never go back.
They do have a good go-kart track though - "Safety - this ones slow, this ones power... you want to wear a helmet? FULL POWER!"

- Club reps
- People trying to drag you into their bar with deals which the barman has never heard of the moment you are in
- Prostitutes
- Blokes selling sunglasses, watches and drugs

Hire a soft top and head to the top of Teide then down the other side (on the roads!!). Fun bit of exploration although try engine braking to avoid the brakes smoking.
Just noticed the OP is a student - so likely under 25. When i was there I could only find 1 company who would hire to us (being under 25). All they would hire us was their lowest spec car.... a battered to s
t Cinquicento (for a more than reasonable €25 a day!). It was great fun blasting it up to the top, then back to the bottom of Teide on almost abandoned roadsI've been to Cristianos more times than I care to remember since I first arrived at TFS on a Boeing 707 in 1984.
It looks like you have had a bad experience, and one that I have certainly not shared. Time share touts were a bleedin' nuisance in the 1980s but that's long over.

The bus runs every half an hour or so, but better to hire a car - you won't take many taxi rides, even at sensible fares, before car hire becomes a cheaper optionFrom the airport:

t-tip when I went.2) I'm on a holiday - I don't want to walk around looking like I've got a strop on. Regarding the prostitutes - I've been to places like Berlin etc where you see all sorts, and the prostitutes stand keeping themselves to themselves unless approached. In Tenerife they would follow you for 50-100 meters along the streets, grabbing at your gentleman's sausage telling you how much they wanted to f
k you - all while there were families/other passers by walking the other way. Disgusting. 3) As per my earlier post, only one hire company would hire to us due to our age, and they were'nt at the airport. I went to the information desk at the airport to ask about a bus, and the woman behind the desk was chatting away on her mobile. When I asked which bus to catch to Los Cristianos she said I don't know then went back on her phone.
If you paid me £1,000 to go back there, I wouldn't
