Discussion
Whilst I can not help in your area of accommodation I have done a quick search for you via tripadvisor and the following came up.

Wife and I had 4 nights in Bologna in November 2008.
Great place to visit even at that time of year; needed warm clothes though. It's the world's oldest university town so full of students, but this is not a problem. Nice walking town and even in poor weather the many arcades keep you dry. Too many small shops, maybe!!
Restaurants we used were all good. Can especially recommend Diana, and Del Nello do Montegrappa; must book both. The last one was really great and we went twice. If you need contact details for these, or any other restaurants we used, let me know. Also, there's lots of little bars and cafes serving quality snacks etc, frequented by the students!
Another good point is that the airport is maybe only 2-3 miles from the town centre.
We stayed at the Regina Hotel. Great central location, right by the market (Thursday I think) easy to get anywhere in the town centre. Hotel is typical of Italian 3 star: old building, maybe in need of some updating (could have been done since 2008), but room was OK; as you're in a city and want to be out.
We liked Bologna so much that we're thinking of a second visit in October. We'd opt for the same hotel again, I think.
Hope this is useful.
