Trip to Athens in October, bad idea?

Not sure if this should be in here or N,P & E but i'm looking to go to Athens for 4 days next month - is that a stupid idea given the economic situation there or will it not really effect me?

If it's for a holiday I'd maybe not bother. Plenty of other cities to visit which are closer to home too.

The air pollution in Athens can be awful anytime of the year. Great city for sightseeing.
