Tottenham Ct Rd station advise at weekend

What is Tottenham Court Road station like on a Saturday night, busy or bearable?

I am going to Soho in a few weeks and have been told to use this station or Leic. Square (which I know will be busy).

Plus would the tube be sardines or less.

Tottenham Court Rd is closed to Northern Line trains until December, so you need to get off at Goodge Street or Leicester Square, if using Northern Line. All OK if using Central Line though.

Sounds like getting off at Leicester Square and walking (sorry, continuing your journey at street level in Tube speak ) would be your best bet.

At worst you'll be standing ina busy train for about five mins. As said its closed to northern line, but its not a long walk. OR if you want to get into the spirit get a rikshaw

Sorry I forgot to say I would be on the central line, originating on the east.
I guess/hope the northern line closure at the station could cut down on some travellers.

If you're coming from the east you'l be seated and it won't be a problem,

There isn't much between the two stations on a Saturday night, especially if you get a seat in the east. Just be prepared to fight your way out and walk to whatever your destination is.

^what they said. I used to work at Leicester Sq on Saturday nights and all surrounding stations are a nightmare- rammed with tourists. I'd get out at Chancery Lane and get a cab the rest of the way if your friend has issues with stairs.

Tottenham Ct Rd is on the North East edge of Soho, other stations with similarly easy access to Soho are Piccadilly Circus (South West edge of Soho), Oxford Circus (North West edge), or Leicester Square (South East edge).

Where are you going to in Soho, and where are you coming from? From that I can figure your best/most comfortable route.

Worked in Soho for 15 years, so know the area fairly well.....

ETA the Central Line is the most cramped (smallest trains) and crowded line on the whole network...
