Mexico - Playacar or Mayan peninsula
Discussion
I've finally narrowed my choice of January break down to Mexico, I've seent he Riu Palance in Playacar mentioned numerous times and I'm looking around £1300 a person for start of Jan.
However, is this the best part of Mexico for a relaxing break or would I be better off looking at other areas like the Mayan peninsula? If so any recommendations for hotels?
Also, any advice on what to do/see when there regardless of where we stay (certainly won't be Cancun though).

If you google tucon playacar, http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g150812-... Nice village nearby and a ferry to Cozumel ,great snorkelling etc. The whole area is 5 star hotels, ie not cancun!!!!!!
I stayed at the Riu Tequila at Playacar and it is a lovely relaxing holiday.
If you can afford it do the Mexico or the Riviera Maya Palace if you cant afford as much then do either the Tequila or The Yucatan as the Yucatan is right on the beach BUT i'd say the food is better at the Tequila and you can get the golf buggy (if your a lazy git) right outside the hotel and it will take you to the Yucatan and right near the restaurant and beach.
If you want any tips then i'm happy to let you know but the Tequila is where its at.
