Shanghai this weekend - Any tips?
Discussion
Hello All
I am travelling to China this week and will be in Shanghai over the weekend and have no plans for Saturday and Sunday.
Just noticed that its their 'national day' which apparently the second biggest holiday after new year this coming weekend..
Anyone recommend things to do and see? Particuarly interested in at least a few cultural experiences and trying some good local food, visit markets etc..
I am staying central so should be able to get around easily, look forward to your suggestions
Many thanks
James

Hey there,
I'd recommend a walk along the Bund, a river boat trip to see the skyline at night which is very impressive. Also go to the 'old city' and visit the gardens which are a pleasant get away from the hustle a bustle!
Take a wander through any smaller back streets to find little markets and all kind of shops and things.
The French concession is worth a visit with it's nice tree lined streets.
Financial district opposite the Bund was good, go up either the pearl tower or world financial centre (looks like a giant bottle opener!)
Raddison hotel revolving restaurant offers tasty food plus great views of Shanghai
Hope this has been helpful!
