Heathrow - San Fran, Virgin Atlantic direct, a week visiting my B-I-L staying at the Hotel Kabuki in Japantown on Sutter St. Then an internal flight over to Anaheim LA for a week to do the amusement parks staying in the Residency Inn about 10 mins from Maingate.

Direct flight home to the credit card bills.

I stayed at the Kabuki a couple of years ago after the re-fit. Do you have a room with the traditional Japanese bath?

Three absolute MUSTS are Yoshi's Japanese Restaurant and Jazz Club - 3 blocks down the hill to Fillmore, turn left, 4 blocks along, left-hand side of the street, The Stinking Rose - garlic restaurant on Columbus, try the lamb shank, and Bourbon and Branch - bar/restaurant on Jones street, it's quite hard to find [that's its gimmick, look for the feux-frontage of the 'Detective Agency' linked on their website, and you'll need the password to get in.]

Yes, I do believe our room has a traditional Japanese soaking tub. It's a sort of sitting up, less floor space, boxy type of tub. Better keep an eye on the little'un in there.

I've been to that Stinking Rose before and also went once a road trip from San Fran to LA and passed Gilroy a small village/town on route that hosts the Annual Garlic festival. Could smell the place coming up for miles before hand.

Going to check out that Bourbon and Branch.

Thanks for heads up.
