Has anyone been here recently? I went about 10 years ago and it was under development. Is there much there now in terms of restaurants/bars etc? Also i seem to remember the nearby beach was quite rocky, is this true and if so are there any sandy beaches close by?

Might be an idea to ask on one of the holiday forums. Try holiday truths, there was an active Tenerife forum on that site. There should be someone on there that either lives or has been recently.

Went there maybe a couple of years after you, so not much to add. It was very quiet, couple of bars, the obligatory Irish bar and that was about it where we were.

There was a little square about a 3 Euro cab ride away that had more restaurants - think it was called San Blas. Some more restaurants and bars there, and a little entertainment.

Beaches on that part of Tenerife are pretty bad - rocks and shingle. As you will know, it is a volcanic island with man made, or dark sand beaches. If you are looking for a good beach, personally I'd avoid Tenerife completely.

Or head for the border between Las Americas and Los Cristianos. Best area IMO and it does boast a decent beach, even if it is man made.

Does that area have a particular name? Adeje and Torviscus ring a bell.

Adeje is really slightly further North than Las Americas (with Los Christianos being slightly South of Las Americas).

Torviscas is really a district within Adeje and is very nice. It is where we normally stay.

Anywhere in Adeje is pretty good but the further North within Adeje, the less crowded, the less shops and "life" and the more expensive you get. Torviscas is a good compromise I think between the touristy part of Las Americas and more so Los Christianos and the more quiet part of Adeje.

got a new apartment there, there is the centro urban area where there are quite a few bars and restaurnats, nice atmosphere. all the restaurants pay into to share a compare rather then having them come round a pester you for money, so you can actually enjoy the atmosphere.

ale in Shaz bar was 1.50 a pint last time i was there.

Yup, next to Las Vistas beach.

The area doesnt have a name as far as I know.. I think it actually still comes under Las Americas as there is a fancy shopping/ eating complex which is called "Americas".

This is the area you want.. this corner..
