If anyone wants a quick laugh check out the reviews of the The Cornhill Hotel, Blackpool on tripadvisor, it seems to get either 1 star and a slagging from guests or a 5 stars from a seeming never ending group of reviewers with only one review who all write similar stuff (it's almost like the owners are writing the reviews, but they wouldn't do that would they?)

According to tripadvisor it's actually ranked 23 of of 79 hotels in Blackpool due to the sheer amount of 5 star reviews!

That is interesting - as you say, from the first few pages, almost all the positive reviewers have only one review to their name.

I wouldn't stay there on the basis of those reviews.

Perhaps more telling than any of the reviews, positive or negative, is the tone of the hotel responses to the negatives.

If they tried that kind of attitude on here they'd be accused of trolling! smile

I read a bit further and started to find the management responses to negative reviews.

I have used Tripadvisor frequently for a few years, and never seen a set of reviews and responses quite like that.

Aberdeen's good for those; the contrast between reviews by offshore types who are there for work and tourists who've booked online because of cheap offers. the Royal is a particular flea pit and the Station gets mixed reviews too.
