The Alpha 22922 is what im after and it appears im going to have to get it from the US and then get rapped for import tax.

Unless you know of anywhere else i can get it?

Thanks.

Why pay import tax, just take a cheap case out throw it away and use the new case. No one will ask for tax on the case you carry in to the uk.

By the time you pay sales tax in the US there's often not much saving vs buying from the Tumi shops over here. Can one of their shops over here order one in for you at a sensible price?

If you do buy in the US, don't forget that you might be able to avoid the sales tax by buying mail order from out of state and shipping to your hotel.

Why Tumi? if its just the brand and snob value, fair enough.

For the same product (ballistic nylon) and a lifetime warranty (Tumi don't offer this) have a look at www.briggs-riley.com/category/group.aspx?sec=trave...

I have the 20" baseline carry-on and it has never missed a beat in the 7 years that I have had it. Simply wash down with a damp cloth if it gets grubby. Plenty of UK suppliers and at a discount over Tumi.

Yes my friend i have. That's where i'm off to.

Quite a bizarre conversation over the phone about price. They wouldn't say how much it was because they are a discount outlet village so after a bit of tooing and froing i gather that i will save in the region of £200 on this case which is great, 3 and a half hour round trip mind...

I've bought my Tumi's from Bicester Village and saved a healthy amount.

IIRC its a Bicester Village wide policy not to quote prices over the phone.

Turns out that they don't sell this exact model. It's only available in their London stores at full price!
